By tastefully merging Indian motifs on fabrics like raw silk, silk satin, georgette, cotton and crepe along with western and ethnic cuts this young designer makes her pieces stand out. Block prints on dresses, added a different yet unique appeal while layers in net spelt ‘Flirty, Fun and Feminine’ and low cut blouses, added a subtle hint of oomph. These designs were clearly made for young women who don’t shy away from being the ones to make a statement. Vibrant fuchsia ponchos, heavily embroidered minis, ornate lehengas with dazzling cholis and for the ethnic dresser beautiful embroidered saris – the collection had a wide repertoire to suit every whim of a woman’s fashion fantasies. The silhouettes were lean and figure hugging but at times moved into more fluid bias cuts. Embellishments were traditional but with that interesting contemporary touch to match the beauty of the fusion designs.
Pop colours such as red, pink, orange, leaf green seem to celebrate the youthfulness in her collection. While royal colours such as blue, black and white added a hit of sophistication when embellished with sequins and stones.
Mixing tradition with modern glamour, Nishka Lulla managed to wow us with her unique and beautiful collection. It’s no wonder this designer already has a fan following among celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Amisha Patel, Dia Mirza, Genelia D’Souza, Neetu Chandra, Zarine Khan, among many others.
