Bringing in her characteristic glamorous touches for her collection during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011, Rina Dhaka dazzled the audience with the utterly feminine creations she is so well known for. Colours were a symphony of delicate hues as plum, pink, lilac and acidic sky blue glided down the ramp. Chic contemporary styles were revealed with a hint of Indo-West chic.
Skirts and tops were displayed with feather light dupattas, while swinging katori hand embroidered tunics were teamed with embossed skirts. Sheer long skirts skimmed the floor gracefully and seductive off shoulder blouses made great fashion statements. Gotta work, plisse and metallics, were an unusual mix; while tulle and lace were used lavishly with intricate sitara work.
The collection was like a delicate dream with sheer fabrics as they floated down the ramp. The silver plisse tissue mermaid skirt with kimono embroidered tulle top, the crushed embossed peplum style kurtas with piping, the utterly pretty lace floral tunics, off-shoulder corset kurtas with pure silver leaf motif, the innovative honey comb scalloped fitted hand embroidered tulle set and the champagne tulle will-power creation with chikankari were poetic ensembles.
Skirts with lace tops, leaf gota corset kurta, the chiffon full skirts and the floor length chiffon gota kurta dress were utterly feminine in shape and style.
Bringing in just four saris in Chantilly and lame, Rina emphasized the pallav with embroidery or gave the cholis intricate bead work to make a striking impact on the catwalk. The chiffon spiral skirt pre-stitched sari with handwork scallops was a great evening wear, offering for any season.
There were continuous flashes of vintage metallic embellishments for stylish evening wear that could appeal to the global dresser.
The Show stopper was the beautiful Bollywood actor, Sonal Chauhan wearing a plisse dot gota work skirt with a matching corset - an absolutely gorgeous ensemble that would evoke tinges of envy amongst many women.
When it comes to dressing a woman in the most ethereal glamorous striking cocktail creations, Rina Dhaka’s latest collection has some definite fashion directions that will delight the connoisseurs who want to add feminine sartorial touches to their wardrobes.
