Real Wedding - Ritu & Ven by Dirk van der Werff Photography

Its always fun to know two things, where the couple met?? at university in their first year, Manchester Freshers Ball 1997 :) and second how did he propose?? well on a private wooden boat actually, cruising through the rain forest at night in Borneo!! Ah sounds lush.

This beautiful wedding was shot by Dirk van der Werff Photography at the magnificent Thornton Manor in Thornton Hough, Cheshire.

It was one jam packed day for this couple, not one but three weddings in one day, wow!
First up was the civil ceremony, then a nod to the groom Ven's Sri Lankan heritage with a Poruwa ceremony and later in the day a Hindu ceremony to mark the brides Ritu's family heritage.

Traditional Sri Lankan dancers and drummers led the groom and the bride's parties separately to Poruwa ceremony with much noise acrobatics and leaps into the air and later Indian Dholis (drummers) announcing the start of the Hindu ceremony.

The team at Thornton Manor had the task of transforming there music room at the manor from an Indian Wedding ceremony to a room fit for an evening wedding celebration and meal in not more than 90 minutes.

With great food, speeches and laughs, it was 12.30 am before the first dance got underway in a swirl of dry ice. .The couple honeymooned in the Galapagos Islands and Equador. Much deserved wouldn’t you say!
